Investment casting, also known as lost-wax casting, is a precision manufacturing process used to produce complex, high-integrity components from austenitic alloys. These alloys—primarily iron-based stainless steels rich in chromium and nickel—are known for their excellent corrosion resistance, strength, and heat resistance, making them ideal for demanding applications.
In the investment casting process, a wax pattern is created and coated with ceramic material to form a mold. Once the mold is hardened and the wax is removed, molten austenitic alloy is poured into the cavity. After cooling and solidification, the ceramic shell is broken away to reveal a high-precision cast component with excellent surface finish and dimensional accuracy.
